Strategic alliances and relationships are an important part of Mercia’s strategy for accomplishing its mission. Current alliances include:

Nova Laboratories

Mercia has an exclusive alliance with Nova Laboratories for the GMP-compliant manufacture and analytical testing of peptide and protein-based conjugates, adjuvant systems and therapeutic vaccines. Nova is a contract manufacturer for a number of major international pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies. The Mercia/Nova alliance is uniquely positioned because of Mercia’s conjugation, adjuvant and therapeutic vaccine know-how and Nova’s proprietary gassed-isolator and clean room containment technologies for aseptic manufacture of pharmaceuticals.

Aphton

Mercia has acquired from Aphton Corporation exclusive rights to adjuvant technology for use in its own and third party’s products. Aphton is a U.S. biotechnology company developing therapeutic vaccines in oncology.

Joslin Diabetes Center

Mercia has acquired exclusive rights to a type 1 diabetes therapeutic vaccine that it is jointly developing with Dr. Tihamer Orban and his colleagues at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. This project is now progressing through phase 1 clinical testing under a FDA approved, NIH funded clinical trial. Joslin Diabetes Center, dedicated to conquering diabetes in all of its forms, is the global leader in diabetes research, care and education. Founded in 1898, Joslin is an independent non-profit institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Imperial College

Mercia has a research agreement with the Leukocyte Biology Section, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, to develop an immunotherapeutic vaccine for the prevention and treatment of asthma.
