Mr. Drivas is Chairman of the Board and a co-founder of Mercia. Mr. Drivas is a senior partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Practice of an international law firm. Mr. Drivas has over 25 years experience in the practice of law and the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Drivas has a BS in Biochemistry from City College of New York and a JD from Fordham University.
Charles W. Calomiris is Henry Kaufman Professor of Financial Institutions at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a Professor at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. He received a B.A. in economics from Yale University in 1979 and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1985. He has served as a consultant or visiting scholar for the Federal Reserve Banks of New York, Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Philadelphia, the Federal Reserve Board, the World Bank, and the governments of Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Japan, China, and El Salvador, and the Attorneys General of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Dr. Blackburn is a co-founder of Mercia and serves as President. Prior to Mercia, he served as VP of Programs for Aphton Corporation and in 1985, Dr. Blackburn helped found Applied Microbiology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMBI) as Research Director eventually serving as Chief Executive and member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Blackburn has over 25 years experience in biologics drug development and is the inventor on over 20 US patents and patent applications. Dr. Blackburn received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Sheffield University, UK, and his post-doctoral training in Protein Chemistry with Professors Stanford Moore and William H. Stein at Rockefeller University, NY. Prior to joining industry he was Assistant Professor Biochemistry Rockefeller University, NY, and Associate Professor Public Health Research Institute, NY.
